CMC-7 font character sets are widely used in automatic check-processing of banking industry throughout Europe, South America and Asia. CMC-7 font characters need to be printed with magnetic ink for the purpose of automatic character recognition. CMC-7 font was originally developed by a French computer company Machines Bull and has become an international standard.
ISO 1004 (3rd Edition, 1995) specifies the measurements, shapes, and tolerances of 41 characters of CMC-7 font in detail (including 26 alpha characters, 10 digits, and 5 special symbols).
